The Modern Literature
Certainly, the 21st century brought to authors the amazing opportunity to write novels inspired by the modern and highly developed societies, supported by technologies and growing entertainment industry. This has shaped the figure of the modern day literature, but in order for people to estimate what they are receiving as a product, a detailed analysis on these developments should be made.
The modern day literature can be classified as a progressive type -the reason is because the constant innovations in the world of technology, the new social values and the globalization influence the creating of fictional and non-fictional novels and works. Nowadays things like space traveling, technological advance, world traveling and establishing a family of different religions seems completely logical taking into account the improvements in the social system and the factors determining the world progression.
The literature, however, along with all the new advantages it gains from the social development, has bees losing another of its features that used to make it fascinating, historical and respected -the paper. Hardly are there any authors that use handwriting in their works nowadays, people buy products and use their hard drives as a storage unit, libraries are becoming more like online places to contain information rather than a place to meet different talents, different interests and different likes and dislikes. The whole process of creating a work has become a bit soulless -without the need to travel around the world, since the web provides everything available on a subject matter, the writter are becoming more like home based workers hired by a huge business rather than people respecting the cultures once having explored them.
These trends in the new literature are both positive and negative. But to properly estimate the quality of products we need to find for ourselves what is worth more -the technological and social advance that now provides varieties of topics to explore, or the respect towards the never aging clasical literature outlook -a whole world hidden in pages in places designed to meet people, by authors who have first experienced what they have already written.
