Show Highlights: Jim Shaver, Craftsman, Pen Street Woodworks, Oakville “I have been a serious woodworker since 1996. I began by making furniture and projects out of necessity for myself to fulfill a need. I also saw it as a way to leave my young daughter a legacy that she could tell her children and grand children about, watching me through the years building much of the furniture that she will have in her home one day and pass on to her children”. Jim makes one of a kind pens, shaker boxes and furnishings. Proceeds of his pen sales help to support his Pens for Canadian Peacekeepers Project. www.pensforcanadianpeacekeepers.com Groovy Arts – Karen Couillard, Burlington One of the hottest new Canadian artists to make it in the international art scene. Karen’s ‘Groovy Art’ style captures the fun and colour of today’s fashion trends and contemporary living with everything from uptown girls to martinis and love bugs. Her work is enjoying an overwhelming response from collectors, galleries and the media. Fabric Art - Helen Benninger, Scarborough “My mother sewed, and I was fascinated by the process from an early age. I watched her for hours and tried to imitate her and bugged her to help me make things. I think she finally taught me to use her sewing machine (which I now have and still use) so that she could get a little peace. I've been sewing ever since.” Exquisitely crafted scrappy scarves, ribbon scarves, shawls, collages and quilts.
